The Mudd Library

We're open every school day from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM and offer a variety of services:

  • Thousands of ebooks are available, both for research projects and for personal reading
  • One-on-one or small group help with research projects
  • Three group study rooms are available for student use
  • Collaboration with faculty on academic projects both big and small 
  • Workshops related to research, media literacy, and digital citizenship
  • Monthly book displays in the library, curated by librarians
  • Personalized reading recommendations for students, faculty, staff, and the greater HW community
  • Desktop computers open for research, homework, printing, and browsing our catalog

ONLINE

SORA

Sora is a digital reading platform that allows students to access eBooks and audiobooks through a simple, user-friendly app. To access go to Sora, choose "Harvard-Westlake School," and use your HW login (same as your hub).  You can use the Sora mobile app to read or listen on your device and can even send most books to a Kindle.

MEET THE LIBRARY TEAM

Ms. Jessica Wahl (she/her) is an Upper School Librarian with a B.S. in Literature and a Master’s in Management in Library and Information Sciences. She helps students and faculty with database use, resource finding, and academic projects. In her free time, she enjoys reading old Hollywood biographies, history, and trivia. She’s passionate about preserving unmarked graves and shares her research on silent-era Hollywood stars. Contact her for assistance with database navigation, finding specialized sources, citation help, and unique facts!

Ms. Kacie Cox (she/her) is an Upper School Librarian and Programs Coordinator. She holds a B.S. in Human Development with a focus on Adolescent Behavior focus, and a Master’s in Library and Information Sciences focusing on Young Adult Services. She assists students and faculty with research, academic skills, programming, and book recommendations. In her free time, she enjoys reading, embroidering, gaming, and writing novels. Reach out to her for help with research, citations, time management, and pop culture discussions!

Ms. Gabriela Herrera (she/her) is our Academic Resource Specialist and Standardized Testing Coordinator. She holds a B.A. in Psychology, an M.S. in Human Development focusing on early childhood education, an M.A. in Education focusing on instructional design, and a post-Master's certification in Educational Therapy. She joins the team this year as an educator and disability advocate, bringing nearly a decade of experience in inclusive education. She focuses on supporting each student by providing the skills and resources they need to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
