Research Help

We encourage students to speak with librarians either in-person or via email for help with particular research questions so we can help point you in the right direction!

You can search our catalog for both physical and ebook titles. Be sure to visit our Online Resources page to access all available databases, journals, newspapers, and citation guides.

LibGuides, research guides created by our librarians, can also be extremely helpful in understanding the steps to find various resources for your papers.

For remote research help, you can find ebooks in our catalog with a simple search:

All the books you will find will be available to you by clicking 'Open' next to the record.

Public Libraries

Your local public libraries can be a great resource if we don't seem to have exactly what you are looking for.

If you are a resident of the City of Los Angeles, you are eligible for an instant Los Angeles Public Library e-Card that allows access to all of LAPL's digital resources, including ebooks, audiobooks, research databases, and online tutoring. To sign up for a physical library card, you can fill out an application in person at any LAPL location. Learn about LAPL's borrower services here, and visit one of LAPL's library branches to sign up for a library card and gain in-person resources.

Outside of the city limits? Try LA County Library! They also offer e-cards with lots of great free resources for books, movies, and database access.

Other excellent public library systems in the area include Pasadena, Burbank, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, and more.
