 The Seeley G. Mudd Library
 at the Upper School

A comfortable gathering place for Harvard-Westlake students, staff, and faculty, the library holds approximately 20,000 books.  The collection includes fiction, nonfiction, and reference materials selected especially for the Upper School community.  Additionally, as a member of ISLE, the Independent School Library Exchange consortium, the H-W community has access to library materials of 13 local schools.

The library subscribes to approximately 130 magazines, journals, and newspapers. Hundreds of other periodicals, including scholarly journals, magazines, e-books, and historical newspapers can be obtained through online databases.  Harvard-Westlake's book catalog and databases (passwords required) are always available via the Internet.

Patrons also may explore book and media collections outside of ISLE and Harvard-Westlake by using   , a network , a network of libraries searchable by location.

The library is staffed by Shannon Acedo, Head Librarian, and Maureen Frank and Clare Lawler, Librarians, all holders of Master's degrees in Library and Information Science and Candris Madison, Library Clerk and Testing Coordinator.  The staff is aided by a dedicated and generous group of parent volunteers.
